Syrian military: Predawn IAF airstrike on position kills two soldiers
A spokesman for the Syrian military issued a statement Thursday morning saying that the Israeli Air Force, at 2:42 a.m., fired several missiles from Lebanese airspace at a Syrian military position located next to the town of Masyaf, killing two Syrian soldiers and causing damage. The military alleged that the Israeli "aggression" was a desperate attempt to raise the morale of the ISIS terrorist organization, which the statement claimed is collapsing due to the Syrian military's victories over its forces. The Israeli attack, the statement alleged, is the latest proof of direct Israeli support for ISIS and other terrorist organizations.
The facility in Masyaf is located 70 kilometers from Russia's Hmeymim airbase where advanced S-400 antiaircraft batteries have been deployed.
