Syrian peace talks resumed in Geneva
Government and opposition delegations started a second round of peace talks in Geneva Monday amid mutual recriminations of violence against civilians.. The government delegation is again headed by Foreign Minister Walid Moallem. It was not clear if opposition coalition leader Ahmad Jarba was there. The first round mediated by UN-Arab League envoy Lakhdar Brahimi ended without agreement on any of the issues – ranging from a transitional government to humanitarian aid for besieged areas. Several hundred starving women, children and elderly people were evacuated from Homs Sunday. However, some of the evacuees were killed by mortar shells.
