Syrian rebels make gains in Aleppo area and Manjib

Rebel factions in Syria, including al-Qaeda affiliates, managed Saturday after weeks of fighting to break through government forces holding a route east of the northern town of Aleppo, but have not yet established a secure route to their comrades in the city through the government siege.

In another sector, an alliance of Kurdish and Arab fighters seized parts of the key town of Manjib from the Islamic State, with the help of US arms, intelligence and logistics.
