Tehran denies ISIS was behind attacks on Iran’s parliament

Sources in Tehran denied that the Islamic State committed the terrorist attack Wednesday on Iran’s parliament and Khomeini shrine, leaving at least 10 dead and many wounded. They named no alternative perpetrators. DEBKAfile’s counterterrorism sources report that all the features of the combined suicide bombing-shooting- hostage taking attacks are striking hallmarks of ISIS mode of operation. Moreover, no Muslim group except ISIS would dare attack a Shiite Muslim shrine, as it does routinely in Syria and Iraq.
