The man arrested in Edmonton, Canada, after ramming a police car Sunday, stabbing a police officer and running down four pedestrians, is a Somali refugee who was given asylum in Canada. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called it a “terrorist attack”.
The suspect was known to the police for avowing extremist Muslim ideology. An Islamic State flag was found in his car. Edmonton officials say he could face charges of terror and attempted murder.
