Texas police treating blasted fertilizer plant as a crime scene
They estimate between 5 and 15 people have been killed and more than 160 injured in the massive explosion that destroyed the West Fertilizer plant 20 miles north of Waco Thursday. It will be some time before final casualties figures are known. Search and rescue operations are in process to recover survivors. Firefighters and police officers are missing. The devastation to the surrounding downtown area is extensive. The explosion resulted from a fire in a place where there were many chemicals. Police have not established the cause of the disaster. West residents are advised to stay out of the town because of the fallout of dangerous chemicals.
