The 10 US sailors detained by Iran were held at gunpoint
This report by the US military contradicts the message cited by US Secretary of State John Kerry that the sailors were well treated and given food and blankets, when he thanked Tehran for their early release. The sailors were held at gunpoint for the 15 hours of their detention and there was a verbal exchange with their captors, the US military revealed. The Obama administration has said their speedy release shows the power of diplomacy and the promise of its new engagement with Iran. Republicans, however, have been critical of the deal with Iran, and some say the detainment of the sailors shows how little regard Iran has for America.
