The Amona evacuation is over. 8 police injured
The final stage of the operation to evacuate the Amona outpost of 43 Jewish families ended Thursday. While the main part of the operation Wednesday was fairly free of violence, the last stage for clearing the synagogue and last home of the hundreds of protesters barricaded there saw clashes. The police finally directed a strong jet of water into the synagogue before storming the building, after the protesters let loose with acid substances, iron bars and fire extinguishers. Eight police officers suffered injury. Most of the former dwellers have been taken in by the Ofra community nearby to await word about their relocation.
