The Electoral College to formally confirm US presidential election result

The vote by the Electoral College is a 227-year old formality for endorsing the results of the US presidential election and is not expected to prevent Donald Trump from taking office on Jan. 20. Despite heavy pressure on electors to go back on their initial vote, which gave Trump the majority, only one likely rogue voter has openly emerged.
