The FBI vets National Guardsmen as 25,000 stream into DC

US security chiefs were told to be on the lookout for potential insider attacks from service members as an extraordinary flap gripped Washington two days before the inauguration of Joe Biden as president. Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said on Sunday that officials had so far not seen any evidence of such threats or flagged any issues. He spoke after he and other military leaders went through an exhaustive, three-hour security drill in preparation for the inauguration, including training on how to identify potential insider threats. About 25,000 members of the National Guard are streaming into Washington from across the country — at least two and a half times the number for previous inaugurals.
