The IDF cancels the off-limits order for a Golan border zone
Two hours after announcing that the northeastern section of the Golan is a closed military zone, the IDF lifted restrictions on the area, but continued to keep watch on Druze movements on the Syrian side of the border. The measure was sharply criticized by the heads of the Golan communities as disrupting the start of the summer tourist season. It was introduced to prevent Druze demonstrations on both sides of the border as guided by pro-Syrian interests hostile to Israel.
