As long as Iran drops its anti-Israel rhetoric Iran’s military (but not the IRG) should be kept intact if Iran is defeated or internally reformed. The West should not intervene in the Shea/Sunni conflict that eventually will bring an Islamic Reformation. Tipping the scale in favor of the Sunnis or in favor of the Shea, using the intra-Islamic confrontation to advance some political goals will cost the West and Russia life and treasure and will not achieve peace or bring profits to its corporations in the ME.
