The Trump administration may cut funds to UN bodies accepting PLO
The White House has drafted an order for a one-year review of US participation in a swathe of UN agencies with a view to slashing donations to bodies and activities to which the Trump administration objects. The cuts could amount to a 40 percent decrease at least in overall funding by the UN’s largest contributor. Special targets could include international organizations that accord full membership to the Palestine Liberation Organization or are “controlled or substantially influenced by any state that sponsors terrorism.” Newly confirmed US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, has said the Trump administration would question whether the US “gets what it pays for” from the UN.
