The UK quits the European Union after 47 years

More than three years after a British referendum voted to leave the European Union and failed attempts by two prime ministers to force an exit deal through parliament, the historic process finally went through at 23.00 GMT Friday night. PM Boris Johnson now has 11 months to disentangle UK’s trade ties with the EU and negotiate separate trade agreements with European members, as well as going it alone on new deals with other countries.
