The White House confirms view that Putin is “corrupt”
A US Treasury official’s assessment that Russian President Vladimir Putin is corrupt “best reflects the administration’s view,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters at a daily briefing on Thursday. He was referring to the assertion earlier to the BBC by Adam Szubin, acting Treasury secretary for terrorism and financial crimes, this week that the United States considers Putin “the picture of corruption.”
The Kremlin later described the remarks as an “official accusation.”
