Theresa May says: I will form a government, after calling on the Queen
In a short speech after calling on the Queen Friday, Prime Minister Theresa May announced: I will now form a government.: She said that the country needs certainty and “only the Conservative party and our friends and allies in the Unionist Party (Northern Ireland) have the mandate and ability to do that.” She also promised a crackdown on “the ideology of Islamic extremism” and to give the police and authorities the powers they need “to keep our country safe.” She spoke of her plans for the next five years, although after the election which cost her party a majority, she will head a minority government whose chances of survival are counted in months by her rivals within her own party and the opposition.
