Theresa May wins her party MPs confidence

British PM Theresa May won a short respite in her battle to get her Brexit withdrawal deal with the EU passed Wednesday night when her Conservative party’s MPs voted 200 in her favor and 117 against. She faces a larger hurdle in getting the deal endorsed by a majority in Parliament since the Conservatives are badly split against the exit terms she negotiated and a large number will vote with the opposition. Her government will most likely fail a vote of no confidence in the Commons.

May said after the party vote that she will not seek re-election to another term as prime minister.
