Theresa May’s first appointment: Boris Johnson Foreign Secretary

Just hours after her appointment by the Queen as UK prime minister, Theresa May started rolling out her cabinet, surprisingly naming as foreign secretary her rival and leader of the Brexit movement Boris Johnson. She declared that her government would seek a new world role outside the European Union, although she had favored staying in the EU.
