Third day of Iran-backed militia attacks on US forces in Syria

US and Iran-backed militias again traded fire early Saturday in East Syria with an exchange kicked off on Thursday by a militia drone attack that killed a US contractor and wounded five US troops in the Deir Ez-Zor province. US fighter jets retaliated by hitting three bases of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards-backed militias. Refusing to let the Americans have the last word, Iran’s proxies were at it again early Saturday loosing another round of armed drones against US military targets in East Syria – but not before President Joe Biden said that while the US doesn’t seek confrontation with Tehran, it is determined to defend its military personnel.
