Third Jewish cemetery vandalized in two weeks – this one in New York

The third Jewish cemetery was vandalized in the United States Thursday — this one in Rochester, New York. Five headstones were toppled at the Vaad Hakolel (Stone Road) Cemetery. But Michael Phillips who oversees the property hesitated to label this an anti-Semitic crime, because, he said, in the other attacks in Philadelphia and Missouri, headstones were damaged and sprayed with paint, while in Rochester “there was no defacing.” However, officials at The Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester condemned the act of vandalism at the Stone Road cemetery, and said it should be viewed in the current environment.
N.Y. Gov. Cuomo called for the State Police to investigate the desecration.
