Third weekend of Paris fuel protests: 65 injured, 250 arrests
In running battles between police and “yellow vest” protest rioters around the Champs-Élysées in Paris and other cities, police reported 65 people were injured in including 6 policemen and 250 were arrested. They fired tear gas, stun grenades and water cannon to disperse masked and hooded protesters against President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to hike fuel prices. The “yellow vest” movement which erupted in October has since become a wider protest against Macron, who is accused of failing to recognize the rising costs of living that has left many struggling.
