Thirteen Israeli police lightly injured by rioting Palestinians

After three days of mass riots, the level Palestinian disorders in Jerusalem dipped then rose again Friday, as hundreds of masked youths clashed with Israeli police in several parts of Jerusalem. Friday night saw a barrage of fire bombs hurled from Issawiyeh at Jewish neighbors on French Hill. The funeral of the murdered Arab boy was accompanied by calls for vengeance. Masked men in the mourners’ procession fired in the air with automatic M-16 and AK-47 rifles. Others hurled rocks at police officers. The first Friday prayers of Ramadan occasioned calls for more “martyrs.”  Elsewhere, police used stun grenades to break up small knots of stone-throwing Arab youths in Wadi Joz and Ras al-Amud, and held another group back at the Gate of the Chains from forcing its way through onto Temple Mount.
