Thousands protest in Germany against government lockdown

Abut 17,000 demonstrators from all over Germany gathered in Berlin on Saturday calling for “The end of the pandemic – Freedom Day.” With few masks in sight, they marched from the Brandenburg Gate to the Tiergarten park, chanting “We are being robbed of our freedom.” After the Merkel government successfully curbed the pandemic, infection figures are again creeping up in Germany. On Friday, the relatively high figure of 955 new cases was recorded.
