Three Arab Israelis suspected of plotting to kill IDF officer
It revealed on Thursday that three Arab Israelis, who were part of a larger group arrested by the Israeli security forces in recent weeks, are suspected of planning to kill an IDF officer in retaliation for the assassination of a senior Hamas figure in Gaza. One of the three was said to have been recruited by Hamas while visiting Gaza in 2014. He was also said to have been asked in April by his half-brother to acquire handguns with silencers, recruit accomplices and carry out the attack. The suspects, residents of the town of Jaljulia in central Israel, were among seven already under arrest on suspicion of illegally dealing in weapons.
Mazen Fuqaha, a senior member of the Izzuddin al-Qassam brigades, was shot dead on March 24 outside his home in southern Gaza.
