Three golds won by Israeli athletes at European Championships
Artistic gymnast Linoy Ashram won a gold medal at the European Championships in Ukraine on Sunday. Ashram achieved a score of 26.5 on the hoop exercise, beating Belarusian gymnast Alina Aransko. Windsurfers Yoav Cohen, 21 and Shahar Zubari, scored gold and silver respectively at Championships at the conclusion of Saturday’s events. And on Friday, Israel’s rhythmic gymnastics team took home the gold in a group all-round category, including performances with hoops, clubs and balls.
The competition served as a qualifier for the Tokyo Olympic Games and was originally slated to take place in March. The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic forced a delay of several months.
