Three out of four new coronavirus cases are under 39
The prevalence of younger than 39 new cases among the 1,869 recorded on Saturday corresponds with the slow response of younger age groups to the vaccination drive. They accounted for 70pc of new cases, whereas high-risk and 60+ groups that were prioritized for immunization dropped to just 6pc. The same trend occurred in seriously ill cases, which registered a steady 1,008 and the rising death toll of 5,368. The R factor slowed to 0.85. Altogether 3,832 million Israelis have received their first vaccine jabs and 2,464 million both.
At the cabinet meeting on Sunday, Kachol Lavan determined to push hard for the broad reopening of the country and its economy, against the Health Ministry which strongly recommended waiting another few days to avoid the resurgence of the falling coronavirus figures.
