Three Palestinians shot while directing automatic fire at soldiers

Three armed Palestinians opened fire from improvised “Carlo” automatic rifles on guards at the military base near Jenin on Friday. The guards joined by backup shot back, killing two of the gunmen and injuring a third. The base houses the military tribunal that judges dozens of suspected Palestinian terrorists brought in daily.
In the Jerusalem suburb of Sheikh Jerrach, police made more than 100 arrests while breaking up clashes between Arabs and Jews ongoing for several nights.
The military and police are on high alert at a time of high tension. Moslems hold their last Friday prayers of the Ramadan festival, while Israelis prepare for Jerusalem Day next Monday. Police have restricted movement on the streets of the Old City of Jerusalem.
