Three pro-Russian activists said killed in raid on E. Ukraine base

Ukraine's interior minister says at least three people were killed, 12 wounded and 63 detained overnight  Wednesday when 300 separatists attacked a military unit in Mariupol on the Azov Sea. None of these figures are indepdently confirmed. The base is far south of the Donetsk region where the separatists have seized buildings in up to a dozen cities. The incident was revealed by Kiev as the US, Russia, the EU and the Ukrainians were to meet in Geneva Thursday to discuss the Ukraine crisis. It was described as taking place as the Kiev government’s armed operation against the seizures collapsed under the weight of troop defections to the separatists.
