Three US nationals killed fighting with Kurds in Manjib battle
Three American combatants died last week of wounds sustained while fighting with the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia for the capture of the northern Syrian town of Manbij from ISIS, a Kurdish source reported. Their bodies were transferred to the US consulate in the Iraqi Kurdish capital of Irbil Friday to be flown to the United States at a later date. The source said the Americans had been assisting Kurdish forces in northern Syria for around a year. They were taken to a field hospital when they fell in battle, he said.
"Authorities at the Faysh Khabur border crossing between Syria and Iraq received the three bodies under the supervision of staff members from the US Consulate in Irbil," said a Peshmerga officer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The director of the crossing Shaukat Barbham confirmed the report.
