Three US Special Ops troops killed, two injured in SW Niger
An ambush against a joint US-Nigerien patrol in southwest Niger on a training mission near the Mali border Wednesday killed three members of the US Special Operations Forces and injured two others. Niger’s troops also suffered casualties. Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (A|QAM) has been conducting cross border raids in this part of Niger. Soldiers of the 3rd Special Forces Group were providing Nigerian forces with counterterrorism training when they came under attack.
