Tillerson, in Tokyo, calls for ‘different approach’ on Pyongyang’s nukes
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Thursday in Tokyo that "it is clear that a different approach" regarding North Korea's nuclear weapons is necessary as the efforts to resolve the issue over the last two decades have been unsuccessful. In a joint news conference with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, Tillerson called on Pyongyang to immediately abandon its nuclear program and cease its testing of ballistic missiles. Tillerson arrived in Asia for a series of meetings with Chinese, Japanese and South Korean leaders in an attempt to reach agreement on action against the North's nuclear program.
