To enforce the lockdown, 7,000 police mustered and 1,000 soldiers

From Friday afternoon, when the national lockdown goes into effect, 7,000 policemen and 1,000 will be on hand to enforce strict restrictions on movement and gatherings, including large families seeking to celebrate the New Year festival together. Thirty-eight roadblocks are posted on the highways to monitor banned movement between towns. The Knesset Thursday approved a 1 kilometer radius for movement permitted outside homes, double the 500 meters allowed by government order.
