Top Israeli general resigns after IDF-issued laptop stolen from home
Maj. Gen. Hagai Topolansky, head of the IDF’s Manpower Directorate, tendered his resignation to the chief of staff Wednesday night after facing questioning by military police over the theft of an IDF-issued laptop from his home in the Lachish region. The officer, a member of the “General Staff and former chief of staff of the Israeli Air Force, said he would not wait for the chief of staff’s decision but chose to accept responsibility for incident. Topolansky announced he was resigning from military service as a message to the armed forces and the general public.

Brig. Gen. Meirav Kirshner, chief of staff of the Manpower Directorate, will stand in for him until a replacement is appointed
