Top US General warns Iran is greatest threat to Mid East security
CENTCOM chief US Gen. Joseph Votel sad “Iran’s malign influence is the most significant threat to Middle East Security,” in a briefing to the Senate Armed Services Committee Thursday. While reviewing the impact of the Islamist State and other Islamist terrorist groups, the general focused on “a range of malign activities perpetrated by Iran and its proxies,” adding, “It is my view that Iran poses the greatest long-term threat to stability in this part of the world.” Iran’s support of the Assad regime are parts of its “malign influence,“ he said.
