Top US, Russian, Saudi diplomats meet in Qatar

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has announced a joint meeting Sunday with US Secretary of State John Kerry and Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir during a 48-hour visit to the Qatari capital, Doha. Kerry will be coming from Cairo. DEBKAfile’s Gulf sources report that while the meeting will range widely over various Mid East conflicts, Lavrov will focus on a discussion of the future of the Assad regime in Damascus and propose a fresh initiative for terminating the Syrian war.
