Tourist shoots man dead in Eilat hotel, is killed by police
The shooter, an American tourist in his 20s, snatched the firearm of a security guard at the Leonardo Hotel and shooting at random burst into the kitchen and killed a staff member early Friday. He then barricaded himself in the hotel kitchen where he had recently been employed. A large police force ordered the guests in the crowded hotel to stay in their rooms. After refusing to surrender and more shooting, he was killed in a gun battle with the police.
The tourist had worked in Eilat within the framework of a program for American youth in Israel until he was fired. Nine people were treated later for shock.
