Trial of IDF soldier Azaria gets underway, court suggests settlement
The trial of Elor Azaria, an IDF soldier who shot and killed a subdued terrorist in Hebron, started on Monday at a military court in Jaffa. Azaria is charged with manslaughter and improper conduct.
On Sunday, the prosecution released a video that it claimed proves that the knife with which the terrorist had earlier attempted to attack IDF soldiers was far away from him when he was shot by Azaria, and did not pose a threat to the soldiers and the medical staff on the scene at the time of the shooting in March.
At the beginning of the trial, the court suggested that the two sides try to reach an out-of-court settlement.
