Tripoli residents launch general strike against militias

Businesses and schools in the Libyan capital shut down Sunday for three-day general strike against militia violence and armed residents set up checkpoints to protect their neighborhoods. Friday, militiamen killed 43 protesters and injured 400 who were demanding that the government’s security forces restore law and order. The interim government called on all militia groups without exception to leave Tripoli.
