Trump: A revolt in the FBI forced its director to reopen Clinton probe
In the view of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, it was an internal revolt in the FBI that forced Director James Comey to reopen the investigation he closed in July against Hillary Clinton, for using a private server for classified correspondence while serving as Secretary of State. Friday, By reviewing that decision, Comey dropped a bombshell on the presidential election campaign just 11 days from voting.
Trump did not cite his sources, but word of a revolt inside the FBI against the director’s original decision not to press charges against Clinton has come from a number of Washington sources. They claimed that letters of agents’ resignation from hundreds of federal agents were put on the director’s desk in protest, although none were accepted. These reports suggest that one of the agencies involved in investigating the case of Secretary Clinton’s private server had been in possession of some of the tens of thousands of emails that she claimed were destroyed.
