Trump: F-35 fighter jet cost is out of control

US President-elect Donald Trump said on Monday the cost of Lockheed Martin's F-35 fighter jet program is too high."The F-35 program and cost is out of control. Billions of dollars can and will be saved on military (and other) purchases after January 20th," Trump said on Twitter.

The arrival in Israel Monday of the first two F-35 fighter jets for their ceremonial delivery to the Israeli Air Force was held up. US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter waited to attend the ceremony at Nevatim air base along with Israeli leaders. The delay in their departure from the US air base in northern Italy was explained by fog.
