Trump gains 88 retired generals’ endorsement

US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is to release an open letter from 88 retired generals and military officials endorsing his campaign and urging “long overdue course correction in our national security posture.”

As the race tightens, he hopes to blunt the edge that his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton gained from the support of a group of former high-ranking defense and foreign policy leaders. The open letter says: “We support Trump’s commitment to rebuild our military, secure our borders, defeat Islamist supremacists and restore law and order.”
