Trump heads for summit with Kim without accord at G7

US President Donald Trump said Saturday before heading out to his summit with North Korean leader King Jong-un in Singapore that he is on “a mission of peace.” While entering “unknown territory,” he said he is confident of success. because the North Korean leader knows that this historic opportunity for “his people, his family and himself” is “a one-time shot and won’t happen again.” Trump spoke at Charlesvoix, Canada after leaving the G7 summit. He said “a variety of issues” had been discussed. It was evident from his comments that no agreement had been reached on the trade dispute between the US and fellow members over his administration’s tariffs on imported steel and aluminum.  Asked about his proposal to re-admit Russia to the G7, the US president said he had put the proposal on the table, but “they did not hold a vote.”
