Trump officially chosen as Republican presidential candidate

The US Republican Party officially selected Donald Trump as its candidate for president at the party's convention in Cleveland on Tuesday. In a short pre-recorded message, Trump thanked voters and party representatives, saying he would take action to "restore law and order" in the country. House Speaker Paul Ryan praised the candidate and his running mate Mike Pence although like many Republican leaders he had previously avoided openly expressing support for Trump.
