Trump orders US troop withdrawal from N. Syria

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper confirmed on Sunday that President Donald Trump had ordered the withdrawal of roughly 1,000 US troops from northern Syria. In a Fox News interview, Esper defended the decision, while accusing Turkish forces and their Syrian allies of “egregious behavior” in their Syrian operation. US correspondents report that Turkish-backed Syrian militias have been committing atrocities against Kurdish fighters and civilians and that 700 ISIS sympathizers have escaped from Kurdish-held camps in the turmoil raised by the Turkish incursion.
