Trump overtakes Clinton in Florida, leads by 2 points: new poll
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is leading his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton by two points, 45 percent to 43 percent, in the key state of Florida, according to a poll released by Bloomberg on Wednesday. The survey shows that support for the billionaire businessman has grown significantly among independents to 44 percent, with 37 percent backing the former secretary of state. Trump is supported by 51 percent of the state's older voters, Bloomberg said.
One of the main reasons for the swing in poll numbers was this week's announcement by the US administration that premiums for Obamacare health plans will rise by 25 percent in some states, but by 70 to 80 percent in others. Many members of the middle class, who often do not appear in polls, are now rushing to cast their ballots in Florida's early voting.
