Trump removes Priebus, names Kelly as White House chief of staff
Capping a month of setbacks for his presidency, Donald Trump Friday night ousted Reince Priebus as White House chief of staff and replaced him with John F. Kelly, the secretary of homeland security and retired four-star Marine general. Thursday, Trump’s health legislation failed to win a majority in the Senate.
In an overnight interview, Priebus said he had not been fired by had chosen to resign. He declined to comment on the charges that he was the source of disastrous leaks preying the White House leveled against him by the incoming Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, over whose appointment Sean Spicer quit as White House press secretary.
