Trump said he was committed to NATO’s Article 5
President Donald Trump celebrated American strategic partnership with Romania and the leadership of Romanian President Klaus Ionannis at a joint news conference in the White House Friday. Trump declared for the first time his commitment to Article 5 of the NATO charter, which pledges mutual defense for any member under attack. This he refused to do at the Brussels summit last month. Romania was a valuable member of the coalition to fight terror, he said and 23 of its citizens had paid he ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan.
