Trump to hold post-Brexit talks with UK PM May
US President Donald Trump to spend about an hour Friday with British Prime Minister Theresa May, his first foreign leader to visit since entering the White House a week ago. They are to discuss Post-Brexit trade opportunities, security and intelligence co-operation and the future of Nato. On some issues they are at odds: On dealing with Russian President Vladimir Putin May advises “engage but beware.”
On Trump’s policy on migration and Muslims, May stressed to US Republicans whom she met Thursday that a distinction should be made between "extreme and hateful ideology" of Islamist extremism and the "peaceful religion of Islam and the hundreds of millions of its adherents…" She was also against the UK and US returning to “failed” military interventions “to remake the world in our own image,” but should not “stand idly by when the threat is real.”
