Trump to receive same intelligence briefing as president

As small protests in opposition to Donald Trump’s election erupted in several US cities, the president elect was set to visit the White House Thursday at the invitation of President Barack Obama to discuss a smooth transition of power. He will be accompanied by the next first lady.  New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is expected to lead the transition team. As president elect, Trump will receive the same intelligence briefing as the president in the 10-week period leading up to his inauguration on Jan. 20. This will include information on covert US operations and data gathered by all 17 intelligence agencies.

Financial markets began to bounce back from the steep losses incurred in the first hours after the Trump victory over Hillary Clinton was announced.

Although the defeated candidate called for all Americans to help the new leader, groups of protesters shouting “Not my President!” gathered in New York, Chicago, Portland, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle.
