Trump ultimatum to WHO: Improve response or lose US funding

US President Donald Trump has sent a letter to the head of the World Health Organization threatening to pull US funding for the battle against covid-19, failing “substantive improvements” in its response to the pandemic. WHO is given 30 days to respond. Trump has accused the world body of being a “puppet of China” and Beijing of covering up its outbreak. China has repeatedly denied the charges. Trump himself is criticized for his handling of the outbreak in the United States which has registered more than 1,5 m of the world’s 4.8 m confirmed cases with more than 90,000 deaths.
